3 Ways Your Wedding Can Support Breast Cancer

It’s that time of year when we bring awareness to the disease that affects 1 out of 7 women – Breast Cancer. A big part of our mission as a publication is to be a source of helpful information, and this month we’ve highlighted a few ways that you can help support breast cancer research, education and treatment as part of your wedding planning.

List Charitable Organization on Your Wedding Registry

Couples are moving away from traditional wedding registry items like matching towels and fancy china. Instead, they’re asking for monetary gifts to put towards their dream honeymoon or their first home together. Adding a charitable organization to the mix is one way to help support a good cause while also celebrating your union. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is honoring breast cancer awareness this month by partnering with Bank of America. To increase the impact of donor contributions, they will TRIPLE any donation made before October 31, 2021.

Buy Your Dress From A Mission-Based Boutique

Buying the perfect dress is already at the top of your list of things to do. Why not buy it from a boutique that will use the proceeds to support a worthy cause? Brides for a Cause sells both new and pre-loved wedding dresses and use the proceeds to support various women-based charities. The organizations they support are focused on things like:

  • promoting a positive self-image for young girls
  • supporting military women and, of course
  • promoting education and research for breast cancer.

Donate Your Dress to Brides Against Breast Cancer

Donating your wedding dress is a beautiful way to give new life to your gown. You can pass it along for another bride-to-be to enjoy and, in the case of Brides Against Breast Cancer, support early detection, education and awareness of one of the most common illnesses women face. When it comes to breast cancer, early detection is one way to increase the chances of survival, so this organization’s mission is to educate women on practices to detect the illness early and stop its development. Donate your dress here.
