We’d like to introduce you to 10 Mile Music Hall located in Frisco, Colorado, an idyllic new mountain wedding venue.
On the historic Main Street, covering 6000 square feet, just one block away from Frisco Marina, it’s easy to see why this new venue has generated so much excitement. It only opened for weddings and private parties in October 2019, but had already successfully hosted around 20 beautiful weddings, as well as dozens of private events, before the pandemic hit and it was forced to temporarily shut its doors.
Luckily, the weddings that took place prior to the pandemic were enough to prove just how much 10 Mile Music Hall has to offer. With so many unique features that have attracted happy brides and grooms – the scenic mountain views and the added bonus of being a live music venue being just two – we are confident that 10 Mile Music Hall will continue to grow, and be on the shortlist of many couples looking to tie the knot over the next few years.
Keegan Casey and Todd Altschuler are two of the visionaries behind 10 Mile Music Hall. After tying the knot in Summit County himself, Todd realized that this beautiful, tranquil mountain town was lacking just one thing: its very own wedding venue! Frisco has one of the most iconic main streets in all of Colorado, but doesn’t have anywhere to hold a wedding reception that couples and guests could walk to from town – which is one of the many reasons 10 Mile stands out. While planning his own wedding, Todd realized most venues in the area were offered at a premium, forcing some locals to look elsewhere for venues that fell more within their budget. Since 10 Mile does not rely solely on weddings, the owners have been able to keep costs down and offer a beautiful wedding venue at a reasonable price.
WHAT SETS 10 MILE APART?
10 Mile is one of the few high-altitude wedding venues located in the middle of a pedestrian-friendly town. From the venue, you can walk up Main Street and have access to breweries, restaurants, the Frisco Marina, and a number of boutique hotels. But it’s not just the convenient location and the stunning views that make this venue stand out… There is so much to rave about when it comes to 10 Mile, but the fact that it also serves as a music venue really sets it apart from the others–especially when it comes to offering dynamic, yet cost-effective, entertainment. From music to lighting, they have it all taken care of, so you don’t have to! “Being a music venue is a huge plus for having your event with us,” Keegan Casey, as well as some other members of the 10 Mile team, exclusively told us. “Most venues have additional charges for entertainment. With our rental, you have access to state-of-the-art sound and lighting included in the package. At the push of a button, we can turn all of our concert style lighting on to create one of the best light shows you have ever seen at a wedding.” We can’t possibly talk about the features of 10 Mile without also mentioning the picturesque location. From the rooftop deck, you can see Mount Royal, Mount Victoria, and Peak One (the start of the 10 Mile range) looming in the background, as well as the aspen trees which look completely stunning, particularly during the fall. The new avalanche shoot is also visible from the deck, which we are told makes an interesting feature and conversational topic for guests. It’s no wonder that couples from all across the country and even around the world choose this Colorado venue for their destination weddings.
WHAT THEY OFFER
10 Mile Music Hall is a year-round venue, but summer weddings are particularly spectacular here; especially given the many unique photo opportunities on the deck. “We see most of the interest from June through October,” the 10 Mile team said. “Our deck is a great spot for a small ceremony. It can hold 54 seated guests and if we roll up the two garage doors, it provides additional space for guests to stand and view the ceremony. “We can hold the event outside and we can do this with very little notice. It’s also a great space for a cocktail hour, especially with the built-in fireplace if it gets a bit chilly.” And speaking of chilly; although winter weddings aren’t the norm – what is normal these days anyway? – one of the main reasons couples choose Summit County is for the breath-taking mountain views. These are best appreciated by having an outdoor ceremony, and the venue can certainly adapt for anyone wanting to wed in a winter wonderland… “Usually, for a winter wedding, we plan most things indoors and then weather permitting we have a plan in place for utilizing the patio somewhere during the event, especially for pictures if it is lightly snowing. Any season, the deck is a great place for pictures,” the team continued. “In terms of adapting, we just find the best parts of each season up here in the mountains and capitalize on that. Take fall, for example: the aspens are stunning, and Peak One glows yellow from the leaves changing color. It makes for a great backdrop for pictures and the ceremony!”
We wanted to ask the team some specific questions about what they loved about holding weddings at the venue…
What do you love most about working with happy couples for their weddings?
We love being part of people’s special day and feel so honored when they choose us. Our venue is unique and so are our options; we pride ourselves on our flexibility when it comes to requests from our clients. Our ultimate goal is to make sure they have the day they have always dreamed of.
Are weddings different from other events? If so, how…
Yes, weddings are different because there is an additional pressure as it’s a day that many have dreamed of for much of their lives – so we put that additional pressure for perfection on ourselves. This along with the months and months of planning that goes into designing every little detail of an event so specific to the needs of each couple keeps things very interesting… but also makes it very rewarding.
What do you love the most about holding weddings at 10 Mile?
We love when the bride and groom walk into the room for the first time and the expressions on their faces when they see everything that they have been planning for so long come together perfectly. Another favorite moment for us comes when it’s time for the party, because we pride ourselves on our amazing facility and team, and we think it just adds that something extra to any event. Finally, we also provide the same high level of service and attention to rehearsal dinners to help create a wedding weekend experience. We have discovered that some of our couples were having a tough time finding places to hold rehearsal dinners and welcome parties for people coming to town. Renting out restaurants can become costly, so we are happy to work on custom solutions.
Is there a particular package or experience you recommend to couples wanting something just that extra bit special?
We recommend considering getting married across the lake at the Dillon Gazebo. The wedding party can then rent a boat and take a champagne cruise from the Dillon Marina to the Frisco Marina. It’s basically the coolest thing ever and an unforgettable experience for any big day!
